We are glad to announce the availability of DigiTerra Explorer 6.10.6.14. The new program release is a milestone in the development process of the software. It contains a really huge set of new features, not only for GIS professionals! With this update, we have implemented many suggestions of our users and a couple of features that were really missing.
User-friendly code dictionary editor
Topcon GRS-1 RTK GNSS is fully supported
OpenGIS GML (.GML) file format is supported
Geoid modells for height measurement, EGM2008 can be downloaded free of charge- Enhanced Survey tool
- Enhanced dividing, polygon dividing tools
- Enhanced legending when printing maps
- Improved GPS settings, new NTRIP dialog,
GPS statistics tool
Averaging option to laser offsets
Increased stability through error-handling module
New supported map and mapping project formats:
OpenGIS GML map (.GML)
Hungarian Digital Basemap (.DAT)
File synchronization:
- Enhanced file synchronization:
- Supporting files over 10 MB;
- Displaying an error message when the Mobile device is not connected to the Desktop computer
GPS related new or improved functions:
Displaying extended GPS status information in the bottom right corner of the map view:
- Autonomous (displays with green background);
- DGPS, PPS, Float RTK, Fix RTK (displays with blue background)
Z coordinate (height) now can be stored during the GPS data capture:
- in case of using DigiTerra Map format the Z coordinate can be stored in all feature types;
- in case of using DXF or ESRI Shape format the height can be stored only in the point features- Improved FieldWork tool: net/gross cultivated area of a work session in the field can be recorded in FieldWork logfiles (.LOG) and displayed on the map view. Driver, Vehicle and Work session can be selected from predefined code sets in the currently used code dictionary or can be entered manually
- Enhanced logging of GPS positions
NMEA logfiles with GLONASS messages now supported (e.g. from Topcon GRS-1)
GPS statistics (new): displays the statistical parameters of the current GPS positions on the map view with an error ellipse; averaged Easting, Northing and Height coordinates; dE, dN, dH values. The calculations can be saved in a file and can be opened at a later time. With this tool you can get the most important information about the relative accuracy of your GPS/GNSS unit.
New supported hardware devices: Trimble Nomad G series, Nautiz X7, Topcon GRS-1 (only with eGPS; the eGPS demo software can be found on the SD Card)
Enhanced GPS settings on the GPS tab:
- Quality settings: filtering the GPS positions by Fix quality: DGPS, PPS, Float RTK, Fix RTK;
- by switchable maximal PDOP value;
- Reorganised serial GPS port settings: Parity, Databits, Stopbits now located in the new GPS serial port dialog box
Navigate to target by selected data record (new), it can be accessed in the Menu on the Record panel
Built-in sound alerts for the navigate to target function: it plays when the current GPS position is closer than 10 m, 5 m, 1 m or 50 cm to the target position
Built-in sound alert when vertex measuring with averaving has been finished - Closing the GPS measurement: the software displays a message box after you tapped on the STOP button on the GPS survey panel to confirm, that you really wish to close the current measurement or not
Enhanced NTRIP dialog box:
- you can filter the available mount points by using the network selection drop-down list;
- and then the mount points are located in the Select Stream list
Projections and geoids:
New projections are available for the following countries in the Grid.txt file: United Kingdom (OSGM02, OSTN02 polynomial enabled by Ordnance Survey), Poland, Romania, Serbia, Turkey
Geoid undulation modells are now supported to calculate the precise height by using the geoid separation value: The geoid undulation file can be used in the software based on the official Earth Gravitation Model's (EGM2008) 2.5 Minute Geoid Heights (read more details in the Reference Manual under "Projections and Datums > The geoid undulation" topic.) - Improved Calculation dialog box:
- Different buttons to the projected and to the geographical calculations;
- Supporting polynomial transformations
- Calculating the height based on the current geoid model
Vector map editing:
The height can be edited and stored on the Existing vertex dialog box:
in case of using DigiTerra Map format the Z coordinate can be stored in all feature type;
in case of using DXF or ESRI Shape format the height can be stored only in the point features
Flipline tool (new): flips the vertex order of the selected polyline. Useful when you wish to change the linetype of a selected polyline: e.g. left-right arrow based line type will be changed to right-left arrow based line type by using this tool
The last topological edit operation can be undo by using the Undo tool that you made to a feature with the Polygon division, Polygon Delineation and Polygon Join tools
Special editing tools:
Enhanced Survey tool:
- displaying auxiliary coordinate system to each method;
- averaging function;
- instance height, signal height can be defined in case of using laser rangefinder;
- laser offset values (distance and azimuth coordinate pairs) can be averaged (e.g. to TruPulse 360)
Enhanced Divide polyline tool: the selected polyline can be divided into different line segments and you can store them in a new layer - Improved Polygon dividing tool: an error message appears when a concave shape occurred during the polygon division process in the selected polygon feature. This message will inform you to redefine the base line (divisioning line) in a new location
Generalize tool: creates generalized (simplified) geometry from selected multi-point, polyline or polygon geometry
Attribute data capture:
Code dictionary can be edited directly in the Data field dialog box. You can define new code code set to a selected attribute table. The new code dictionary can be saved directly in the software - Loading code dictionary based on the saved path in the DigiTerra Explorer Map file (.EXP)
Data field list values from ArcPad .APL format now can be edited and exported into DigiTerra Explorer Code Dictionary file (.CDT) when you export the ArcPad .APM into .EXP format - The default code dictionary (General.cdt) now replaced under the \Maps directory:
- It is located in the \SD Card\Maps\General.cdt path on Mobile devices;
- It is located in the \$DOCUMENTS\DigiTerra Explorer\Maps\General.cdt path on Desktop computer
Long codes of a code set will de displayed in the Form view with horizontal and vertical scollbars
Tree view mode is activated automatically when you capture attributes into related data tables
Printing:
- Maps with WGS84 projection now can be printed
Enhanced legending capabilities - The Title and the Label of the Map view now can be saved in the .EXP file
